With an academic background in theatre and a career in arts management, I also like to explore my world through various visual arts processes.
Linda Rogers is a seasoned professional arts manager who has worn many hats during her more than two decades of arts leadership experience in roles such as Artistic Coordinator at the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Interim General Director and Director of Artistic Operations at Opera Ontario, General Manager at Soundstreams Canada, Executive Director of the Toronto Philharmonia, Company Manager at Puppetmongers Theatre, Development and Financial Manager at VIBE Arts, Manager of External Relations at Tapestry Opera and most recently as Executive Director of the Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra.
As a visual artist, Linda is a passionate amateur, a member of Urbansketchers Toronto, IUOMA (International Union of Mail Artists) as well as using art journaling as a meditative practice. The burgeoning body of her work mostly chronicling Toronto locations has led to some commissioned work and future exhibitions and arts products are in development.
As an arts consultant, Linda has contributed to developing grassroots arts organizations in southern Ontario through her independent arts consulting business
Arts Cubed, primarily assisting companies with fund development, communications strategy and digital project implementation. She has served on the boards of several arts organizations including Puppetmongers Theatre and Opera Canada.
A passionate evangelist for the use of digital technology in arts education and outreach, Linda has been creating web sites for artists and others since the mid-1990’s and has been a WordPress Developer for more than a decade. She pioneered a virtual reality live music series in 2007 and, as a result, has published articles on the subject and presented at conferences such as Technology in the Arts, SoundX Symposium, Virtual Praxis. and Virtual Worlds: Best practices in Education where she was awarded for the Best Interactive Exhibit. She has been invited as a guest lecturer on VR arts at Open University and at the University of Lincoln and also served as a Teaching Assistant for Vanderbilt University’s New Media Studies Program, Online Games, Literature, New Media, and Narrative.
Linda holds a BA, Hons in Applied Theatre, a certificate in Management Accounting and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
