Weathertop Mountain

Weathertop mountain is a location where things get newly serious for the Fellowship of the Ring as Frodo is attacked by a Ringwraith on its slopes. For me within the game of LOTRO it was my first fellowship quest and it is also the setting for an annual player organized music festival. This watercolour sketch was done with Rosa Gallery watercolours on on 300 gsm cold press watercolor paper in a no-name sketchbook. Purportedly all-cottom but I have my doubts.

Ent

Ents were perhaps my favorite characters in Lord of the Rings and I believe the first Ent I encountered in the game LOTRO was in Evendim. Longbough is his name.

Market Square Cinema

I ordered a new paint set from Rosa Gallery.  This is their “Botanicals” set with a nice assortment of reds and blues. I broke it in sketching our local cinema which has gone through several owners in the 20 years we have been in the neighbourhood. It has a nice community feel and is a great place to see a film on the big screen without all the hype of the big cineplexes.

North Market

Now that the new North Market is complete and open we no longer have to explain why the North Market is south of the main market. The old building it replaces was not beautiful but it was a community hub. I hope the new building will serve the same needs.
